There is need right now for Proven, Dependable, Conservative leadership. A need for a Strong Voice who will stand up for the families of Katy. As a past Council Member, Mayor Pro Tem and current Zoning Board Commissioner, I have the credentials that are needed at this time to hit the ground running without the need for on-the-job training. I have a proven record of fighting for Texas families, and there is no doubt as to where I stand when it comes to helping solve problems in our community.
I’m a Board member and past president of the Board of Directors for Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District #12. I have served on the board since 1992 except during the time when the voters elected me to the city council Ward B position. This experience is very valuable at this time as we as a city deal with and try to mitigate and solve flooding issues. I will be a strong advocate for our families and will bring the needed experience and the Proven – Dependable – Conservative leadership to make Katy a better, more liveable town for us all.
Flood prevention where possible and mitigating flood damage is a top priority.
Keeping our Police, Fire and EMS departments strong and fully equipped.
Update regulations and eliminate redundant and unnecessary rules and keep taxes as low as possible.
Protect our youth with learning programs like the Resist Aggression Defensively, RAD Kids.
Improve our parks and garbage pickup services.
Open an “intergenerational park” geared toward seniors and their outdoor exercise needs.
These are a few of the things we can do if we work together, and they are exactly what I will do if you choose to elect me to council. I will work for you, I will stand up for you, and I will fight for you. Please Vote Larry Gore for Council Member At Large.
A Katy Small Business Owner for Four Decades
I have owned a business in Katy for over 40 years. I started my outfitting business in 1977 as an Ag Co-op project while in High School. I have owned a farm and ranch on the Katy Prairie and owned a restaurant in Katy where Los Cucos is located today. In 2009, My wife started a School/Therapy center for Autistic children on Third Street in old town Katy (currently located outside the city limits). We were building out a new location in the City of Katy which was devastated by the floods of Harvey. I am one of the founders of the Katy Prairie Conservancy started in 1992. I am also a Board Member of Fort Bend Levee Improvement District #12. I served on the city Parks and Recreation Board and the city Board of Adjustments before being elected to council in 2008. I served as Mayor Pro Tem 2013-2014. I know Katy. These are some of the qualifications that make me a good choice to represent the people of Katy. With help from the voters we will make a better more livable town for us and our families.
What I’m Passionate About
Flood prevention where possible and mitigating flood damage is a top priority. As a homeowner, a business owner for over 40 years, and a property owner in the city, I have a comprehensive view of what goes on in our town. My wife and I have had two business properties damaged by flood – one of them twice – and we thank God that our home was not flooded. So while I can’t know the devastation of one’s home flooding, I can empathize because of the flooding damage we had to our own property. I have 40 years of experience dealing with land, and working on rice farms through my outfitting business. My years of public service on the LID Board working with drainage districts, engineers, and with the Army Corp of Engineers all give me a solid foundation to deal with this issue at every level.
Quality of Life
I will work for a balance of bringing in high quality, family-oriented development that takes into account the cost to the city and the city’s return on investment. I will work for a better more livable town for us all.
A strong community keeps our first responders fully eqipped and constantly thanked. A strong community also invests responsibly in our parks, our youth and our seniors. I was on council when we opened the Be an Angel Park for special needs children and the Senior Center. I have experience in helping Katy and it’s people grow and prosper.
